Appreciative Inquiry® Consultant Training

Become an agent of positive change in organizations

Enhance your skills and increase your income by adding a powerful methodology to your professional practice: Appreciative Inquiry® (AI).

Today, many coaches and consultants want to support not only individuals, but also groups, teams, and entire organizations—and even communities, cities, and institutional systems.

Appreciative Inquiry® addresses this need by offering you a unique and deeply human approach to collective change.

This approach, already used by companies such as Nokia, McDonald’s, NASA, British Airways, Cap Gemini, and Ernst & Young, as well as by the Red Cross and Caritas, can also be applied on a large scale: it has been implemented in entire cities and communities such as Cleveland (United States), as well as in several European municipalities and projects—for example, in Brussels (the CALICO project) and in participatory neighborhoods in Flanders and Sweden, mobilizing citizens, institutions, and associations around positive, shared visions.

In France, the approach is becoming increasingly widespread: it is used in public organizations, hospitals, and healthcare facilities, as well as in collective development initiatives that seek to build shared and inspiring visions.

Wherever it is implemented, Appreciative Inquiry brings about lasting transformation in the culture, cooperation, and performance of human systems by bringing out the best in everyone and harnessing collective intelligence.

“When the members of an organization come together to reflect on their successes, their energy is transformed. The positive core of the system is revealed and becomes a driving force for change.”
David Cooperrider

founder of Appreciative Inquiry

Appreciative Inquiry®: Change Through a Positive Approach

Appreciative Inquiry® is based on two key principles:

  1. Mobilizing the collective intelligence of a human system.
  2. Building on existing successes to bring forth a shared and inspiring vision of the future.

Rather than focusing on what’s wrong, Appreciative Inquiry® explores what brings life, what inspires, and what’s already working well, in order to strengthen and amplify it.
It is a deeply constructive approach that brings forth the energy of possibility.

A Comprehensive Transformation Methodology

Throughout the training, you will learn to master the 5D cycle:

  • Define: establish the framework, clarify the objectives and scope of the intervention.
  • Discover: identify the system’s strengths, successes, and resources.
  • Dream: collaboratively build an inspiring vision of the future.
  • Design: work together to envision the structures, processes, and initiatives needed to realize this dream.
  • Deliver: anchor the transformation for the long term through implementation and a shared culture.

This approach will enable you to effectively support SMEs, large corporations, local governments, or even entire cities in their change processes.

Why Appreciative Inquiry Works

Appreciative Inquiry® is not just a coaching method: it is a paradigm shift based on research-validated principles.

The 5 fundamental principles of Appreciative Inquiry®

1. Social constructionism: Reality is co-constructed through our dialogues.

2. Principle of Simultaneity: Change begins as soon as we ask new questions.

3. Poetic Principle: Organizations are like living stories that we can rewrite.

4. Anticipatory principle: Our vision of the future influences our present actions.

5. Positive Principle: Energy and motivation are the drivers of sustainable change.

Appreciative Inquiry®: A Powerful Catalyst for Large-Scale Transformation

The Appreciative Inquiry® is not merely a facilitation or group coaching method—it is a strategic tool for profound transformation of human systems.
Based on the belief that organizations evolve in the direction of the questions they ask themselves, it enables sustainable, comprehensive, and inspiring change at the level of a team, a company, a community… or even a country.

Its systemic and positive approach acts as a catalyst for trust, creativity, and engagement.
Rather than correcting dysfunctions, it channels energy toward strengths, successes, and shared aspirations—thereby creating a collective movement for transformation.

Major international companies, entire cities, and public institutions have already experienced its unifying power: Nutrimental Food in Brazil saw its profits grow by 300% after implementing an appreciative approach; the city of Cleveland transformed its community dynamics; and European projects, such as CALICO in Brussels, have redefined how local policies are co-created with citizens.

Appreciative Inquiry® demonstrates that sustainable change does not arise from problem-solving, but from valuing the best of what already exists—a profoundly human approach that brings out collective intelligence and unleashes the transformative potential of systems.
